laminate flooring

We are hoping to rehome a grey pending a home visit but the rehoming place place seems concerned that we have laminate throughout downstairs. It's not a problem, we can buy a mat or rug but does it cause a problem to the dogs? I would be distraught to get turned down because of it.

We've got laminate floor throughout downstairs. We added a couple of mat which the dog jumps from one to another. She has slipped a couple of times when we first had her. Greyhounds can stand on their claws when thay are scared or nervous which can make it tricky for them. Ours soon got use to it.
Good luck with your home visit

We have laminate flooring too, and we have bought four 1.7m long by 0.7m wide rugs to go down, not expensive ones, but cheap ones with rubber undersides, to allow it to stick to the floor and not slip with use. But laminate flooring can be a plus as we have a small area of the kitchen which is off bounds to him and the flooring helps re-inforce him not coming into it. and also discourages counter surfing to an extent!
The good thing about rugs is that once he knows where they are, he will stick to that area. If he is sick or has an 'accident', the rug is easy to wash and replace with another spare whilst it is being cleaned and dried. Thats if they are small enough to fit in a machine, which mine can...see above dimensions.
Hope your successful!

We have three greyhounds of all different ages. They very quickly get used to it and get very adept at sliding skillfully just for fun

Hi i have laminate floors down stairs, and 3 greys and whippet none have any problems with it I did try mats but found in worse, as the mats used to slide, they all prefered it without.

hi there, we have 2 greyhounds and another dog and have laminate flooring downstairs. we always had rugs with a non slip back for the other dogs and now we have the greys we bought some cheap and cheerful washable rugs to go onto the other areas. we got them at B&Q and they were about £10 each, brilliant things. as long as the hounds can get some sort of grip on the floor there'll not be a problem and mats or rugs will solve that. good luck with the homevisit.

We have laminate in the hallway and our grey Kevin has always been fine about it. It does have its benefits as when he tries to nick the cats' food (which is left in the hallway) we can hear him clicking up to it and catch him in the act

We have a new greyhound (Goldie) who has been with us for 2 days now... he is quite scared of the laminate and has slipped on it a couple of times - when he get excited really. Our plan is to act as if nothing is wrong and see if he gets used to it before we jump to getting rugs etc as we don't want him to be scared of it. (He was OK at first, the bit about walking on his claws makes sense)
